National Level Faculty Development Programme on JMP Software

On 29th November 2025, the historic Convocation Hall at the University of Mumbai, Fort Campus witnessed a grand celebration of young scientific talent at the felicitation ceremony for the State-level Winners of the Aavishkar Research Convention, 2023–24 and 2024–25. The event brought together brilliant minds from across Maharashtra, along with their mentors and coordinators, to honour their remarkable contributions to research and innovation.
The Avishkar Research Convention, instituted by the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra and organized by the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, aims to promote a culture of research and innovation among students and faculty. The 18th Avishkar round witnessed enthusiastic participation from our institute across various levels.
The Avishkar Convention consists of six broad categories:
- Humanities, Languages, and Fine Arts
- Commerce, Management, and Law
- Pure Sciences
- Agriculture and Animal Husbandry
- Engineering and Technology
- Medicine and Pharmacy
Under the leadership of Dr. Anuradha Majumdar, Head and Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, our institute actively participated under Category 6 – Medicine and Pharmacy across UG, PG, and PPG levels. A total of 14 projects were submitted for the preliminary rounds:
- 2 Undergraduate (UG) projects
- 10 Postgraduate (PG) projects
- 2 Post-PG (PPG) entries
These projects underwent four competitive rounds, including the Zonal level and the University of Mumbai level evaluations.
After rigorous screening, the following projects qualified for the final Avishkar round at MUHS, Nashik:
- 1 UG project
- 3 PG projects
- 1 PPG project
The ceremony began at 4:30 PM with the heartfelt felicitation of all student winners, whose dedication, creativity, and perseverance had earned them top honours in their respective categories. Following this, the coordinators and mentors of each category were felicitated, recognising their invaluable guidance in shaping the future of these young researchers. The occasion was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Prof. Ravindra D. Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor, University of Mumbai; Mr. Ajay Bhamre, Pro Vice Chancellor; and Dr. Sunil Patil, In-charge Director, Student Development, who lauded the exceptional talent and hard work of the participants.
Representing Bombay College of Pharmacy (BCP), Prof. Ujwala Shinde, Principal In-charge; Mrs. Mayuri Padhye, Assistant Professor in Pharmacology; Mr. Vishwanath, Assistant Professor in Pharmacognosy; and Ms. Siddhi Nakashe, Research Scholar, proudly attended the ceremony.
BCP’s students brought home significant accolades in the Academic Year 2023–24 at the 18th Avishkar Research Convention:
- Ms. Mayuri Padhye clinched the Gold Medal in the PPG Level, Category 6, for her project titled “Transforming rice husk waste into a sustainable solution for removing nanoplastics from potable water” under the guidance of Dr. Anuradha Majumdar, Head and Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology.
- Ms. Siddhi Nakashe won the Gold Medal in the Postgraduate Level, Pharmacy, for her project titled “Synthesis of Deuterated Drugs by H/D Exchange for Improvement of Pharmacokinetic Parameters” under the guidance of Dr. Premlata Ambre, Head and Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
- Mr. Manas Mahale earned the Silver Medal in the Undergraduate Level, Pharmacy Category, for his project titled “Masked Language Models are Fragment-Based Drug Designers in Medicine and Pharmacy” under the guidance of Dr. Evan Coutinho, Emeritus Professor, Bombay College of Pharmacy.
Additionally, Mr. Manas Mahale secured the Gold Medal at the National Level at Anveshan – Student Research Convention for the same project, under the guidance of Dr. Evan Coutinho.
These achievements led to Bombay College of Pharmacy being a proud recipient of the Zonal (Zone XI) Championship, Championship in Category 6, and Overall Championship for the Academic Year 2023–24, reflecting the institution’s unwavering commitment to research excellence.
The awardees and their mentors were presented with medals and trophies engraved with the iconic building of the University of Mumbai, Fort Campus, symbolising both academic brilliance and institutional pride. The felicitation ceremony not only celebrated the students’ accomplishments but also inspired future researchers, highlighting the synergy of talent, mentorship, and perseverance. The event concluded with a warm vote of thanks, leaving an indelible mark of pride and inspiration on all attendees.
